1. Why is backup power critical for data centers?
Data centers require continuous power to prevent data loss, downtime, and service interruptions. Backup systems ensure operations continue during outages.
Power Need
Farnam needed a reliable backup power solution to protect critical data center operations where even a momentary outage could result in data loss and disruption. With limited ground space available, the system also had to fit within a constrained footprint while meeting strict uptime requirements.
Solution
To meet these demands, Farnam installed three Cat® 3512C diesel generator sets atop a parking structure located behind the facility. The system was engineered to ensure the data center could transition seamlessly during grid interruptions while supporting the full operational load.
Results
The system provides fast, reliable backup power allowing Farnam to maintain uninterrupted operations and safeguard critical data. With rapid response and full-load capability, the generators deliver the uptime performance required for a data-driven environment.
