Introducing the Cat® Truck Equipped with Cat® Technology — An Exploration in Innovation
A Platform for Possibility
In late 2024, something unexpected happened. The internet was buzzing with rumors about Caterpillar building a pickup truck. AI-generated images of a Cat pickup were getting everyone excited. You couldn’t look away, and we couldn’t either. Thousands of inquiries flooded in from customers, contractors, and equipment owners with one simple question: “What would a Cat Truck really be like?”
They dreamed of torque and towing power. Those were the easy parts for Caterpillar, so we went further to see how we could help them even more. We dreamed of a tech-forward system that would transform every jobsite.
So, we did something bold. We built it.
Not Just a Truck. A Statement.
At CONEXPO – CON/AGG 2026, Caterpillar revealed the Cat Truck. A one-of-kind vehicle that represents far more than sheet metal and horsepower. It's a testament to how we're embracing innovation and AI to lead the industry forward.
But here's what makes it different: this isn't a truck we built to prove we could. It's a truck we built because we listened to what you actually need.
Technology That Transforms Job Sites
The Cat Truck isn't impressive because of its design alone, though it was meticulously crafted using the same design language and quality standards as the Cat machines you know and love. It's impressive because of what's inside.
This truck is equipped with cutting-edge CAT technology engineered to managers the tools to run safer, more efficient operations:
Detect Camera Technology — Identifies when personnel are too close to machines, preventing costly and dangerous incidents before they happen.
Driver Safety System — Monitors operator fatigue across both the vehicle and connected job site equipment, helping prevent accidents caused by fatigue.
Drone Launching Station — Enables autonomous drones to conduct site surveys and even deliver parts directly to where they're needed, reducing downtime and improving coordination.
Integrated Display Hub — Brings together the CAT AI Assistant, VisionLink Productivity monitoring, and the Detect System in one command center.
Now you can equip your own truck with this same Cat Technology, giving you complete visibility and control of your entire job site at your fingertips.
Innovation Powered by AI, Built by Humans
The Cat Truck began as an idea born from emerging AI capabilities—a thought experiment about what's possible when we embrace new technology. But here's the truth: AI sparked the concept, but human insight and customer feedback designed and built it.
That's the future we're building at Caterpillar. Not technology for technology's sake, but innovation rooted in understanding what our customers need to succeed, whether you’re managing a major project or running a smaller operation.
We built the Cat Truck because we heard you. Because we listened. Because we believe in innovation that solves real problems.
