Paul Santacaterina

Vice President and Chief Risk Officer

Paul Santacaterina serves as Vice President and Chief Risk Officer for Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation (CFSC). Paul has responsibility for corporate credit, corporate portfolio management, global loan syndications and the Financial Products Division Compliance department.  

Paul has extensive credit risk experience across multiple financial lending products, including leveraged loans, asset-based loans, and equipment leasing and lending and across several industries including media, telecommunications, retail, and manufacturing. Over his career, he has led the credit risk function for five businesses at a top Fortune 25 institution and he has specific expertise managing small- and mid-cap portfolios. Paul has successfully built, integrated, and simplified credit operational infrastructures and proactively addressed the changing credit and regulatory landscape during turbulent economic times.

During his 30+ year career at GE Capital Corporation, Paul held positions with increasing responsibility at the divisional and enterprise level. Most recently, as Chief Risk Officer, GE Intercompany, Paul increased visibility and controls on financial transactions between GE industrial divisions and GE Capital and ensured compliance with Federal Reserve regulations. He built the infrastructure to support the new regulatory environment, replaced outdated credit delegations, and designed a new credit and investment delegation framework aligned with the company’s risk framework.

In addition to his extensive domestic experience, Paul has also led businesses in Europe and Asia.

Paul earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill.. He is a graduate of GE’s Executive Leadership Development Program and a certified 6 Sigma Black Belt.
