Maria Sheffield is the President of Cat Financial Insurance Services, which helps our Caterpillar customers and business partners succeed by providing risk management solutions through a suite of insurance products. Cat Financial Insurance Services is comprised of seven insurance entities including Caterpillar Insurance Holdings Inc., Caterpillar Life Insurance Company, Caterpillar Product Services Corporation, Caterpillar Insurance Company, Caterpillar Insurance Company Zurich Branch, Caterpillar Insurance Services Corporation and Caterpillar Insurance Company Ltd.
Maria joined the Caterpillar Legal Department in 2015 and has held positions of increasing responsibility including General Counsel, Vice President, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer for Cat Financial Insurance Services in addition to Assistant General Counsel for Caterpillar, Inc. Prior to joining Caterpillar, Maria served most immediately as the Captive Insurance Program Manager for the State of Missouri. Maria also has eleven years of experience in private practice specializing in insurance regulatory and compliance matters, and six years as an analyst and government affairs representative with the Georgia Department of Insurance.
Maria has a J.D., M.B.A, M.P.A and a B.A. and is admitted to practice in New York, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas and the U.S. Supreme Court. She is also a registered arbitrator and mediator in the State of Georgia.
Maria has been recognized by Business Insurance as a Women to Watch, received the Atlanta Woman magazine’s “Women on the Way” award, and was listed in Captive Review’s Power 50.
Maria serves on the Board of Trustees for Georgia College and State University and the Board of Directors for Studio Tenn.
