The Faroe Islands, (sometimes called ‘Faeroes’), are a group of eighteen islands in Northern Europe, about halfway between Norway and Iceland. This rugged island has been embarking on a journey to expand its largest port – Port Torshavn. The planned expansion will soon double the port’s square metre capacity and additionally will give Torshavn a new dock with two new quays.
The Faroese based construction company, J & K Peterson Contractors, will be taking on the exciting expansion project and is well known for their vast experience working in harsh conditions. In order to accommodate this undertaking, the company needed to acquire several new machines to ensure enough horsepower to reach the finish of this project. Cat dealer Pon Equipment and Cat Financial worked together to help them find the right machines that would be the most efficient for this project.
In May, Cat Financial and dealer Finning shared an exhibit at the Balmoral Trade Show in Lisburn, United Kingdom. This trade show was deemed the biggest agricultural show in Northern Ireland.
Finning has had a stand at the show for over 30 years and was one of the first construction machinery companies to attend. They enjoy a premium stand position inside the main gates and regularly win “Best Stand” at the show, which they did again in 2017.
The event, which lasted from Wednesday 10 May 2017 to Saturday 13 May 2017, showcased some of the best agricultural machinery and services in the industry and was attended by tens of thousands of visitors and more than 600 exhibitors.
Throughout the trade show, Cat Financial and Finning worked collaboratively to advise visitors on Cat® agricultural machinery and financing options to match.
“The Balmoral show is one of the oldest agricultural shows in the world dating back to the 1890’s,” said Alan Carry, Cat Financial Senior Territory Manager – Ireland & Northern Ireland. “The show has developed over the decades to become a diverse event encapsulating mostly agricultural events, but also a wide ranging trade show including food exhibitions and shopping areas. Today it is one of the best agricultural shows in the world attracting more than 35,000 visitors per day.”
Congratulations to Finning Cat for winning “Best Stand” in 2017.

What’s the best way to travel the 877 miles from the northern tip of the United Kingdom to the southernmost point of Land’s End? If you’re a member of the “Ripping Up the UK” team, and you’re raising money for charity, the answer is a “digger” , better known as a backhoe loader, built in the UK.
On Monday, May 9, “Ripping Up the UK” will take off from John o’Groats, Scotland, in a Cat® 432F2 Backhoe Loader supplied by Caterpillar and supported for the duration of the journey by Cat dealer Finning UK. Along the way, the team will make various stops to raise money for the Special Needs Adventure Playground (SNAP), a charity located in Cannock, Staffordshire, England. . Designed specifically for children with special needs, SNAP features outdoor adventure play equipment, including an aerial runway, cycle track with specially adapted bikes, sand pit, indoor soft play area, craft room and multi-sensory room. The charity hopes to use the funds to replace heavily used, damaged play equipment, update its sensory toys and add more facilities for adults and caregivers.
The “Ripping Up the UK” team has a series of fundraising and publicity events planned along the journey to meet followers and collect donations. Traveling about 120 miles a day, the Cat 432F2-led convoy should arrive in Land’s End, England, on Sunday, May 15. The team felt that making the journey in this particular machine just made sense. Caterpillar has been manufacturing backhoes in the United Kingdom for decades and is celebrating the product line’s 30th anniversary at Bauma 2016. Back in 1982, a joint U.S./UK team began work on the new product, and the first machine – the Cat 416 – rolled off the assembly line just three years later, in November 1985.
Today, Caterpillar offers a full line of backhoe loaders in Europe, ranging from the 74.9hp 427F2 all the way up to the 112hp 444F2. They’re versatile performers ideal for digging, trenching, back-filling and material handing and even, apparently, for making cross-country journeys on behalf of a good cause.

Cat Financial was pleased to once again partner with Caterpillar and Cat dealer Zeppelin at bauma 2016 in Munich, Germany the week of April 8-14. The international tradeshow drew approximately 580,000 visitors from 200 countries over the seven-day event. A total of 3,423 exhibitors from 58 countries presented their products over 605,000 m2 (150 acres) of exhibit space.
At the Caterpillar exhibit space, attendees were able to experience displays of approximately 60 Construction, Paving, Mining and Industrial & Waste machines, as well as other solutions like Cat Rental and Cat Connect technology.
Part of what makes bauma such an interactive tradeshow is the number of product specialists on-site during the event. Customers were able to meet with their Cat Financial Territory Managers, customer support representatives and Caterpillar machine specialists. Attendees also received brand new technology updates and demonstrations, as “The Age of Smart Iron” was unveiled at bauma by Caterpillar Chairman and CEO Doug Oberhelman. “The Age of Smart Iron” describes Caterpillar’s strategy to be the industry leader bringing digital solutions designed to improve productivity, efficiency, safety and profitability for customers.
“One thing that makes bauma such a unique experience for our customers is the ability to connect with a variety of product experts on site,” said Bob Bennes, Vice President of Cat Financial. “Whether it be machine, financing or technology experts, customers are able to connect with all the right people, face-to-face, which helps them feel more secure about doing business with the Caterpillar family. When we are able to sit down with a customer and assure they have all the solutions they need-on the spot-it provides an effortless experience for everyone.”
